WHEN SHOULD I BOOK MY NEWBORN SESSION?
The best time to book your session is during your 3rd trimester of pregnancy or around week 30-32. I know due dates aren’t set in stone, but it helps me plan my calendar so I don’t schedule too many around the same time. I generally only do one photo session per week, so the sooner you get on my calendar, the better. I also have a Baby Registry, so you can use Leslie Amy Photography as an option in your baby shower invitations. I will provide you with small cards you can mail with invitations.
The session needs to happen in the first two weeks of life, but is BEST between 7 – 12 days old. There are several reasons this is so important, one is because a brand new baby’s bones haven’t hardened completely yet, they are still very flexible and posable and curl up easily, like they were in the womb. They are also the sleepiest when they are a few days old, and since we have to move them around a lot, older babies tend to wake up easier. I’m not saying you can’t get beautiful photos of your baby at one month old, but the style of newborn photography you see all over my website is done in the first 2 weeks.
WHERE WILL THE SESSION TAKE PLACE?
My sessions are done in my studio in Conway, Arkansas. I have an awesome studio space complete with a client lounge, snack bar, nursing glider plus a huge stash of blankets, buckets, furs, headbands, bonnets and outfits. Get a better look at my studio here.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT IN A NEWBORN SESSION?
First of all, expect an awesome and fun day watching your tiny little love being wrapped up looking cuter than you can imagine!!
Depending on which session you book, you can plan on being at our studio from one to four hours. It goes by quicker than you think! It will be a little warmer in the studio so you may want to dress in layers to stay comfortable. We have comfortable seating, snacks, a tv with Netflix and free wi-fi available to you while you wait.
Most of my baby poses are either naked or wrapped in a newborn wrap. I don’t use regular normal newborn clothing in my photos because they rarely fit a brand new baby! Scrunched up clothes are not good in heirloom photos. I have many stretch wrap colors for us to choose from. For baby girls, I have a ton of headbands and bows and bonnets as well, so there is no need to bring your own, unless you have a special one you’d like to use. I have lots of baby boy things too.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SESSION?
Usually within 24 hours, I will post a sneak peek from your session on social media!
Your final edited images will be finished in 4 – 6 weeks. You will have the option to come back to the studio to see them in person in a video slideshow set to music, and I can help you choose your custom package of wall art, gift prints or albums. If you would rather take the digital images and order your products DIY, that’s fine too. You get to choose if you want to come back to see them in person or receive them in an online gallery.
WHAT TYPES OF SESSIONS DO YOU OFFER?
Newborn sessions are our absolute favorite, and they are done around 7 – 12 days old. We also do maternity sessions and milestone sessions as your baby grows… sitting, standing, walking. First Birthday sessions are always fun!
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Our newborn sessions start at $395 and include digital image files. Maternity sessions start at $400 and you get $150 off when you book your newborn session by 32 weeks pregnant. Milestone sessions start at $250.

I know there are many newborn photographers out there. Please do your research and make sure you find one who is experienced with the posing and handling of tiny newborns. You aren’t hiring just a photographer, you’re putting your precious newborn in this person’s hands for 3-4 hours, to care for, soothe and pose safely. Newborn safety is very important to me! I absolutely love what I do and would love to meet you and your sweet baby!
